No more waiting rooms - Sport Therapeutics' services are mobile!

Our approach is rooted in simplicity. We come to you on your schedule.

The mission of Sport Therapeutics is to provide effective and affordable sport injury rehabilitation and functional wellness services wherever you are.

Healthcare should be a collaboration between the practitioner and patient. Sport Therapeutics will listen to you and present a plan that meets your goals while aligning with your preferences.

Services Offered

Sport Injury Rehabilitation – Injuries often result in deficits in motion, strength, and neuromuscular control. Sport Therapeutics can evaluate these deficits and apply treatment that is effective and affordable.

Want to return to play as soon as possible? This service is for you.

Functional Wellness – The way we rest, work, and play can often result in functional deficits. Soft tissues that cannot properly lengthen or shorten can limit our ability to move or result in dysfunctional or inefficient movement patterns. Abnormal postures, overuse, or poor technique can all lead to these problems. Sport Therapeutics can apply the same techniques used in injury rehabilitation to address these functional deficits and optimize performance.

Want to perform and compete at your highest level? This service is for you.

Interventions Used

Dry Needling – Very small needles are used to pierce the skin. While this technique uses the same needles used in acupuncture the philosophy is very different. Needles are placed in the area of injury or dysfunction, in adjacent areas, and along areas close to the spine. The needles help to increase circulation to the soft tissues and nerves so that normal function is restored and pain is reduced.

Manual Therapy – This includes a number of techniques including soft tissue mobilization, muscle energy, or joint mobilization all geared towards restoring soft tissue and joint mobility.

Myofascial Decompression – The application of cups that provide suction to the skin and underlying tissues decompresses those structures. The result is increased tissue mobility and increased circulation.

Therapeutic Exercise – When we are injured, our bodies often react by decreasing our ability to move the injured area. This is useful in the acute stages of the injury as it decreases the chance of worsening the injury, but if this protective mechanism goes on too long the result is dysfunction. This type of dysfunction can also occur when a body part is immobilized as part of treating an injury when a brace, cast, or inactivity is ordered by a physician for a prolonged period. Dysfunction can also happen in the absence of injury. Poor posture, abnormal movement patterns, or poor technique can also lead to dysfunction. Whatever the case, exercise can be used to re-train the body to work the way it was designed to work.

Cost

Sport Therapeutics does not bill insurance companies for the services provided. Sport injury rehabilitation and functional wellness should be affordable for everyone. Unfortunately, the typical healthcare model involves an inefficient push and pull between insurance companies and practitioners. Practitioners tend to perform only those services that insurance companies will pay for and routinely charge up to the maximum amount the insurance company will pay. This can result in less than effective treatment and a large bill. The patient is stuck in the middle with few options.

Our fee structure is simple. The charge per hour is $50 with the goal of providing all necessary services within one hour. One hour is the minimum. If more than one hour is needed or desired, the client is only charged for the portion of the next hour used, based on the $50 per hour base charge. At $50, the services are priced to compete with the average co-payment paid by many patients using their insurance. An additional charge for travel may be required for clients outside a 30-mile radius of Ann Arbor, Michigan.
